Fishing resources and maritime communications have made the River Miño a symbol of the city. It originates in Meira (Lugo) and flows into the Atlantic Ocean between A Guarda and Caminha (Portugal), being the most important river in Galicia. It separates the province of Pontevedra from our neighbouring country, Portugal, although they are joined by several bridges crossing it. There is a navigable section at the end, starting in Tui, where activities such as rowing, canoeing and recreational boating, among others, are practiced.
