It takes its name from a column in one corner of the building, used according to the people as a unit of measurement. It served as living quarters-shop from the Gothic period, located in the ancient Praza do Arco. An outstanding feature that renders it unique is its mullion window on the ground floor. The openings are adorned with ogee arches and plant and animal-shaped elements related to its trade: a medieval apothecary. One of the small upper windows has a cross above its ogee arch, an example of the presence of Crypto-Jews in the city during the 16th century.
